The students of Veterinary and fisheries SKUAST Kashmir protested at Suhama, Ganderbal, demanding a separate University for veterinary and fisheries.
The students are demanding a separate University citing discrimination and non-recognition of their achievements SKUAST as primary reasons.
“We want a separate University from Agriculture department, but the Agriculture Scientists Association is opposing it. All of us (students) want recognition under our own banner,” the protesting students told The Kashmir Walla.
The students also claim that the J&K governor and Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, principal secretary, Animal, Sheep Husbandry has approved the separate university.
“The governor and Dr. Samoon has approved our separate university but Agriculture Scientists Association is opposing it as revenue generated by us is used for them,” said a protesting student over phone.
“We have to import livestock from other states of India which we can do here if we will get a separate university,” said another protesting student Aamir.
