Srinagar, May 23: Indian markets moved sharply higher today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to return for another term as the NDA led in over 300 seats according to the latest trends.
Counting of votes for Lok Sabha election results 2019 started at 8 am today and latest trends showed BJP-led NDA ahead in over 300 seats.
The Nifty hit 12,000 mark for first time while Sensex surged over 1,000 points to 40,124 at day’s high. However, after hitting the new milestones, Sensex and Nifty gave up some gains on profit-taking.
At 11:24 am, the Sensex was up 520 points at 39,628 while Nifty was up 1.4% at 11,903.15, off is day’s high of 12,041.
