Srinagar, May 31: A delegation of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Kashmir led by its Chairman Mushtaq Ahmed Chaya, Co-Chairman Baldev Singh Raina and Zahoor Ahmed Tramboo had Separate meetings with K K Sharma Advisor to Governor, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce and Arun Kumar Mehta Financial Commissioner, at Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
The delegation apprised the Officials about various issues relating to the Tourism, Industries, Commerce, and Carpet sector in the State and the deputation apprised Advisor and Principal Secretaries about various issues of the Hotel owners in Kashmir and requested a suitable package to bring them out of this difficult financial situation, it was brought in notice of administration that the issue of Industrial Power Tariff for Hotels needs to be resolved on priority and it was reiterated that the Industrial Power Tariff for Hotels should remain in force at any cost.
The deputation also told the Advisor and Principal Secretaries to revisit the provisions of SRO-519-521 for including the left out industrial activities especially that of Hotel and Restaurant services, which are also qualified under DIPP and MSME for GST reimbursement like that of manufacturing units.
The other issues raised by the delegation members included release of Rs 6-Crore announced in Budget 2018-19 for Carpet Industry as per the recommendations made by Handicrafts Department, recommending of 0% GST for Handicraft, Handloom and Dry fruit of J&K, Special budget provision of piled up liability for Interest Subvention in Handicraft and Handloom Sector, 3% Interest Incentive from State government on Capital Investment for manufacturing and service sector, making already constructed Common Facility Center operational for all stakeholders , extending industrial benefits to units established outside industrial areas, extending Industrial Benefits to Educational Institutions, suggestions for Zonal Plan Development of Srinagar Master plan, financial support and interest waiver on bank loans of Kashmir hoteliers owners, relaxation in repair and maintenance of hotels and also sought financial assistance to the hoteliers for upkeep and maintenance of hotels.
The Advisor and Principal Secretaries assured the delegation appropriate consideration of their demands and directed the concerned officials for developing a consensus on projected issues and taking rational decisions in this regard within stipulated time frame. Also present in the meeting were PHD Chamber Expert Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs Tariq Ghani, Committee on MSME, Textiles, Agriculture & Allied Agriculture Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, Committee on Horticulture, Food Processing & Education Showkat Chowdhary, PHD Chamber Young Business Leaders & Startup Forum Chairman- Akib Chaya and Regional Manager PHDCCI-J&K Iqbal Fayaz Jan
