Anantnag: Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) Anantnag on Friday organised awareness-cum-interaction programme for progressive dairy unit holders and farmers of district Anantnag, under National Livestock Mission, here at District Veterinary Complex Mehandi Kadal.
On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Parvaiz Sajad, in presence of District Social Welfare Officer Anantnag, distributed broiler chicks and poultry feed among 45 selected beneficiaries each receiving 300 chicks and 6 quintal feed under National Livestock Mission, Innovative Poultry Productivity Project (Broiler), an official handout read.
The programme was attended by dozens of progressive farmers from various parts of the district. Experts educated the participants regarding the latest scientific ways of dairy farming.
While interacting with the progressive farmers, the ADC said that all sorts of facilities are being provided to the farmers to get a better yield through different schemes and programmes of the government, adding that poultry sector has a tremendous potential to provide job opportunities to the jobless.
He stressed upon the concerned department to aware educated youth regarding the various schemes in the poultry and allied sectors so that they are benefitted. The ADC further said that “since poultry is one of the most organised sectors in the animal agriculture, therefore, it has the potential to be developed on a larger scale”. He suggested the educated youth to develop their interests in varied agriculture sectors and to find long lasting job avenues in them, read the handout.
