Srinagar, April 10: KVK Ganderbal held its 15th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K on 9th April, 2019.
Dr. Javid Ahmad Bhat, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Ganderbal gave a presentation of various activities undertaken by the Kendra during the year 2018-19 and also presented the proposed action plan for the year 2019-20. The meeting was attended by Director Extension, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad and Dean FVSc& AH Shuhama, heads of various line departments and progressive farmers of the district.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazeer Ahmed lauded the efforts of the Kendra and appreciated the convergence of KVK with allied departments for achieving the targeted goals. He also stressed upon adoption of low cost vermicomposting technology in every household and focus on increasing the productivity of apple through HDP.
Worthy Director Extension while praising the KVK work stressed up on area specific FLD’s to be laid in in lower and higher reaches of the district on different crops.
Chief Agriculture Officer appreciated the work of SKUAST-K in providing high yielding varieties of paddy particularly SR-4 which recorded highest yield of 84 q/ha.
The representative farmers from different villages of the district highlighted the problems related to farming and sought solutions through proven technologies of SKUAST-K.
