Leh July 10: Field Days on cucumber were organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nyoma at Liktse and Mudh villages of Changthang region on 07/07/2019 and 09/07/2019, respectively.

The events were organized for imparting technical know-how of cultivation of cucumber and its health benefits. Dr. Maheshwar Singh (Programme Coordinator/Head) and Dr. Sonam Spaldon (SMS, Vegetable Science) gave a detail overview of package and practice of the mentioned crop at Liktse village. Ms. Sonam Youron, Sarpanch, Liktse village, Ms. Tashi Dolma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer and officials of Department of Agiculture, Leh were present on the occasion.

Dr. H.L. Verma while welcoming the participants at Mudh village (A model village adopted by KVK, Nyoma under Tribal Sub Plan) said that farmers of the village were early innovators and were always get ready to adopt the newer agricultural technologies. Besides, its package and parctices, farmers were educated about the nutritional aspects and health benefits of cucumber by Dr. Anwar Hussain (SMS Food Technology).


Mr. Tashi Dawa, sarpanch, Nyoma, Mr. Mohd Akbar, Community Health Officer and other officials of Primary Health Centre, Nyoma and officials from Department of Agiculture, Nyoma were also present. The events were followed by field visits to the green houses of the progressive farmers of both the villages for live demonstrations of the crops. Interaction between the experts, progressive farmers and the farmers took place at the spots.
