Dr Shahid Iqbal for sustainable management of freshwater resources

SRINAGAR, MARCH 22: The Institute of Engineers J&K State Centre in collaboration with the J&K State Disaster Management Authority Friday organised a programme to mark the World Water Day.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Other prominent people who spoke on the occasion included Aamir Ali, Director Disaster Management and Chairman, Institution of Engineers, JK Chapter and Arjimand Hussain Talib, development economist and founding-editor Ziraat Times.

The DC, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the importance of sustainable management of freshwater resources. He urged the general public to play their part and assist the administration in efforts to keep these important resources clean and make them sustainable. He said it is a collective cause and requires equal efforts from the government and public.

Arjimand Talib in his address highlighted the grave future scenarios of water scarcity in South Asia and the probable impacts on Jammu & Kashmir.
