Srinagar, May 1: In a significant development, Government Education Department, Kashmir has decided to revert to the original school timing of 9 am to 3 pm for schools within municipal limits of Srinagar city.

A delegation of J&K Private Schools Association led by its President G N Var and Manzoor Wangnoo, who heads its Moral and Environmental Education Wing, met the Director School Education today and impressed upon the need for the change of the school timing.

After deliberations, the government agreed to change the school timing back to 9 am to 3 pm for municipal limits of Srinagar, Mr Var told Ziraat Times after the meeting.

Mr Var also said that the Association was advocating for change in timing to 9:30 AM at least for the Muslim fasting month of Ramazan.

It will provide relief to small children who, due to bad condition of city roads, had to wake up very early to prepare for school, Mr Wangnoo told Ziraat Times.

Pertinently, parents and general public had expressed deep resentment for the change of school timing in Srinagar municipal limits to 8:30 am.
