Srinagar: A review meeting on Forest protection, working and on-going development works and other allied issues of Five Forest Territorial Divisions falling under the jurisdiction of Srinagar Forest Circle was held under the chairmanship of Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle Irfan Ali Shah(IFS), at Forest Headquarters, Sheikhbagh Srinagar.
Various issues relating to Forest Protection and anti-smuggling measures including establishment of new Forest Check Posts, strengthening patrolling in vulnerable forest areas and establishment of Nakas to ensure proper check on the movement of timber and Non timber forest produce were discussed threadbare.
The DFOs were directed to book habitual forest offenders under Public Safety Act(PSA) and also to liaison with District Administration, Police and Forest Protection Force in Forest encroachment related offences and to exhibit zero tolerance to such offences.
While taking review of on-going Development works, it was informed that 6.22 lakh Plants are being planted during current fiscal over an area of 378 Ha of degraded forest lands including Restoration of degraded forest landscapes in Tosamaindan and Baltal Areas. Development of Biodiversity Conservation Park at Harran Ganderbal also came up for discussion.
The meeting amongst others was attended by Territorial DFOs of Urban Srinagar, Bandipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Tangmarg Forest Divisions, Law Officer, Information Officer and other forest officials.
