Srinagar, July 8: An agricultural scientist from Kashmir, Eajaz Ahmad Dar, has bagged the 2018 Jawaharlal Nehru National Award from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

The award is provided in recognition to outstanding original research done by doctoral degree students.


Dr. Eajaz Ahmad Dar’s subject is Natural Resource Management. He is presently working as a Scientist (Agronomy) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil, SKUAST-K.

Dr. Dar belongs to the village Lassipora of district Budgam. He did his PhD from Punjab Agricultural University in the discipline of Agronomy with specialization in Agricultural Water Management. The title of his thesis was “Simulating the impact of climate and irrigation schedule on performance of drip irrigated wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)”.

Dr. Dar will be given the award on the ICAR Foundation Day i.e. 16th July at NASC Complex, ICAR, New Delhi. The award consists of a citation, a silver medal (gold polished) and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. He has to also deliver a presentation on achievements of his work.
