Director Agriculture conducts checks on Baramulla agro-chemicals stores

BARAMULLA, FEB 13: In order to curb the menace of spurious insecticides, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs, Director Agriculture Kashmir (Controller Insecticides) Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal along with Joint Director Extension Mohammad Muzaffer Hurra, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushrooms Farooq Ahmad Shah, Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla M.Yousuf Shah today conducted surprise check of various premises/shops of Pesticide/Fertilizers of district Baramulla, an official of the Agriculture Department told Ziraat Times.

On the occasion, Director Agriculture said that the Department was committed to provide quality inputs to the farming community and in this context the Department has prepared a roadmap for massive inspections and checks, he said.

Director Agriculture on the occasion directed the officers to ensure that quality fertilizers/insecticide and other inputs is made available to the farmers through proper sale outlets. On spot directions were passed by the Director to all Chief Agriculture Officers of the valley to mobilize their field agencies to conduct frequent inspections/ surprise checks.

The Director also stressed upon the enforcement wing of the Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir to work in consonance with the different provisions of insecticides act 1968 and fertilizer control order 1985. He asked the officers to take strict action against the wholesale/retailers if found selling fertilizer/insecticides or seeds without following the proper procedure.

He directed that any dealer/retailer found guilty of violating any provision of the law, his licence would be cancelled and dealt as per the relevant law.
